Character & Canon: Laguna Loire, Final Fantasy 8 (AU)
District: Crystalden
Personality: Laguna tends to act a lot like his 'old' self, from the 12th cycle of Dissidia/the past of Final Fantasy 8. In fact, he acts almost the same!
He'll joke and laugh about things, seemingly not focusing on anything serious or scary. However, he's not a full idiot. Just a bit of one. He knows how to motivate people, for one, and how to cheer them up. He might be called naive, he might be called foolish, but you've got to admit - he knows how to lead, and how to progress, and how to try and keep people in high spirits. After all, it's not really a good sigh if you're depressed on the field. You might jusy give up, and that's really bad! Though, Laguna does have his own depression, now trying to force himself to forget the state he's in - a Manikin, with only half his thoughts, and with a lust for blood.
However, Laguna's cheerfulness isn't all there is to him. Deep down, or sometimes not, Laguna is nervous. Some people say he's just nervous around pretty women, but that's not it. He's also nervous when, well, he's gotten others into danger, or is under a lot of pressure, or may be about to die - you know, the big things. And ladies. His body feels stiff... and he gets cramps, mostly of the leg sort. He also tends to stammer when he's nervous, and he'll try and change the subject. However, he also tended to speak without thinking - without knowing what'll happen. In fact, that's how he agreed to many things. But, hey, he can't speak anymore! But now, Laguna tends to approach without care, even though he's a monster. As I said, not thinking much about the danger! If he did stop to think, though, he would probably end up freaking out and hiding away in his home.
Laguna is truely a family guy, and loves his Ellone and Raine. Pity what's gonna happen, huh? With his wife dying and his daughter getting on a ship and his son becoming a loner. He's more of a playful uncle, though, with his childlike joking and playfulness - even if he'd been Squall's dad without having been turned into a monster, I can imagine him being very lenient and playful - just like how he was with Ellone.
One of the big major changes in this AU is because of Laguna's new form. As a Manikin, not only has he been made mute, but Manikins only know fighting. Him, and the other 012s, all are strugging with their minds - they have their former memories, but the urge to fight. Laguna himself wasn't a fan of fighting, and as such, this is the major thing he's fighting with in his own mind. Laguna used to like talking about himself, but since he can't speak anymore in a way people can understand, plus how much of his thoughts are consumed by darkness... well, that's changed. Now, he'll tend to change the subject in a joking way, if he's communicating in a nice way.
Even if he's only been a Manikin for about a week by the point I'm bringing him in by, before the start of the battling.
As another note, Laguna has a terrible sense of direction - he gets everybody lost quite a bit, both in FF8 and 012, but he just tries and shrug it off, as part of his cheerfulness. But in all honesty? He wouldn't care either way, because as I mentioned, he likes the journey and the people he meets.
Questions/Comments/Concerns: He has a
slight summary of his AU, at least until the start of my planned fan comic, on his journal.
